What's New in DeskbookR — Interactive Layout

The latest DeskbookR release brings the Interactive Layout feature, giving employees a live visual map of desk availability, and a Layout Editor that lets admins position every unit on the floor plan.

We’re excited to share the newest addition to DeskbookR: the Interactive Layout. From today, the floor plan is no longer just a static picture — it’s a live, clickable map that connects bookings directly to the physical space.

Interactive Layout for Employees

The Interactive Layout appears alongside the booking experience and updates in real time. Here’s what it unlocks for every team member:

See Your Booked Desk on the Map

On the Today booking row, a new pin icon lets you instantly locate your reserved desk on the floor plan. One click highlights exactly where your unit sits in the office — no more wandering around trying to find row D, seat 7.

New Booking Card Integration

While creating a new booking, the layout stays in sync with your selection. As you browse and pick a unit in the New Booking card, the corresponding desk is highlighted on the map so you always know what you’re choosing before you confirm.

Live Availability at a Glance

The Layout shows every desk colour-coded by status:

  • Available desks are shown in green — ready to book.
  • Booked desks are shown in a distinct unavailable state so you can immediately see what’s taken.

No more guessing or refreshing a list — availability is visible across the entire floor in a single view.

Click to Select

Prefer to choose your desk visually rather than from a list? You can now click any available unit directly on the Layout to select it for booking. The New Booking card updates instantly to reflect your choice, so the experience works both ways: list-first or map-first, whichever suits you.

Layout Editor for Admins

To power the Interactive Layout, admins now have access to the Layout Editor — a dedicated tool for defining exactly where each unit sits on the floor map.

With the Layout Editor, admins can:

  • Upload or update the office floor plan image.
  • Drag and drop each unit onto its precise location on the map.
  • Adjust positions at any time as the office layout evolves.

Once units are positioned, the Interactive Layout is live for the entire team immediately — no extra steps required.

Getting Started

The Interactive Layout is available to all DeskbookR plans. Admins can open the Layout Editor from the Admin Dashboard. We recommend positioning all units before introducing the feature to your team so everyone gets the full experience from day one.
